Meet, Gloria Kobow, who oversees scheduling, expenses and logistical support, and also provides support for the Marketing & Communications team.
Prior to joining Imaginable Futures and Omidyar Network, Gloria was a director of operations at Vimchat, a B2B chat service company. There, she managed a small team and supported human resources, financial and marketing/communications needs.
Before Vimchat, Gloria worked with The Nueva School as a co-director of enrichment and outreach. She worked with external vendors, parents, students and teachers to provide high quality after-school and summer enrichment programming for students in grades PreK-12.
“I have always been drawn to the field of education. Early on, after I graduated from art school, I noticed how much I really enjoyed being around students; their excitement to learn something new was contagious! My love for education and my penchant for keen organization blossomed when I started taking on roles as an administrator. Working with the US Education team is the best of both worlds. We have so many great educational companies in our portfolio whose services/products benefit so many lives around the world --and that’s truly a wonderful thing to be a part of!”
I’m really lucky! I get to support some incredible people as they continue to reach and change the lives of many around the world! I’m inspired everyday.
I created, curated and organized an enrichment camp program for 500+ students! I also initiated their outreach program through the camp, which allowed students from lower income families the ability to attend at low to no-cost. This was something that hadn’t been implemented before, and now continues to be a practice at the organization.
Patience is key in anything.
If you take your time with something, you’re less likely to have to do it over again.
My love for the arts runs deep. When I was little, I wanted to be a cartoonist or illustrator. Luckily, I had my go at that ;)
At home with family, some tea in hand and a book in the other.
Being pregnant! I logically know what’s happening to your body, but when you really think about it? *poof* mind blown. That’s magic.
Texas spring. California summer. Midwestern fall.
“People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.” - Paulo Coelho
When I think of this question, I think of my daughter and her future, and that of her peers. I wish for her future to be full of understanding and empathetic people; for her world to be kinder and more interconnected.
