Meet Victor, who oversees finance and accounting at Imaginable Futures. Prior to joining Imaginable Futures, Victor led the portfolio analysis team at Omidyar Network, overseeing functions such as portfolio valuation, investment return analysis, deal financial due diligence, investment data management, portfolio monitoring and reporting. Victor also directly managed a number of portfolio companies.

Before Omidyar Network, Victor spent four years at KPMG, where he led financial assurance projects for both publicly traded and privately held companies. Previously, Victor led the applications engineering department at National Instruments China, managing areas including system application prototyping, product technical support and customer education.

What lessons did you learn early in your career that you keep with you today?

Plan first, work hard, be patient and learn from others.

Why do you love coming to work?

I get to solve problems and build things from scratch at times. I can have impact, either directly or indirectly, by serving our team and our portfolio organizations.

What current Imaginable Futures endeavors most excite you?

Promoting the advancement of education by exploring uncharted territories and supporting organizations that develop innovative models or tools.

If you could be one character from a book? Who would you choose and why?

Sherlock Holmes. I wish I had his deep knowledge, keen observation, strong insights and proficient deduction and logical reasoning skills.


Where is your happy place?

Shanghai, my hometown. I miss wandering around the city on a bike.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an astronomer during my elementary school years. I was very obsessed with the mystery of outer space.

What’s the closest thing to real magic in this world?

Sciences and engineering that make things seemingly impossible a reality.

If someone narrated your life, who would you want it to be?

My daughter.

Favorite season?

Depending on the location :-) But I think I would most likely pick spring, with fall being a close second.
