NPR's rigorous reporting and unsurpassed storytelling connects with millions of Americans every day. With a nationwide network of award-winning reporters, international bureaus and hundreds of NPR Member Stations, NPR is never far from where a story is unfolding. Relying on hundreds of skilled journalists in the United States and abroad, NPR stays on top of breaking news, follows the most critical stories of the day and tracks complex issues over the long term. In a time of media fragmentation and sound bites, listeners come to NPR for fact-based, independent journalism and civil conversation that examine and respect diverse perspectives.

Why We Invested

At the onset of COVID-19 in the United States, Imaginable Futures took quick action to support child care providers and families. One way we chose to do this was funding NPR's emergency response to COVID-19 – coverage of the coronavirus with focus on information for and stories on educators, providers, parents and learners. NPR is stretching its resources to provide hourly coverage on the education challenges brought about by COVID-19 and those impacted, especially individuals within Imaginable Futures focus areas of early childhood and student parents.

The mission of NPR, in partnership with its member stations, is to create a more informed public, one challenged and invigorated by a deeper understanding and appreciation of events, ideas and culture within the United States and across the globe."
