Sector: Non-Profit
Investment Year: 2022
The Fórum Nacional de Educação Escolar Indígena (FNEEI) defends the educational rights of Indigenous people and creates spaces for dialogue between Indigenous communities, leaders within education and the Brazilian government. FNEEI was created by Indigenous peoples aiming for national representation on policies related to Indigenous school education.

Why We Invested

Indigenous school education has suffered one of the biggest setbacks in recent years. During the last FNEEI national gathering, which took place in October 2020, participants expressed concerns about policies that were causing uncertainty for future generations. We believe that by supporting FNEEI, we can increase the likelihood that Indigenous groups and their voices will be represented when policy decisions are being made at the federal level on their education.

One of the commitments of this Forum is to promote processes of articulation and mobilization of teachers and indigenous leaders that aim to strengthen the struggles in defense and guarantee of indigenous rights in general, in particular the rights for indigenous school education, specific and differentiated.
