Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai founded Malala Fund in 2013 to champion every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe and quality education. Together with their board, leadership council, staff and champions, Malala Fund is creating a more equal world by ensuring access to school for all girls. Malala Fund invests in education advocates and activists who are challenging the policies and practices that prevent girls from going to school in their communities. The Malala Fund Brasil is the local arm of the organization.

Why We Invested

In Brazil, school exclusion affects Black, Indigenous and Quilombola girls. Partnering with Malala Fund Brasil, the organization's local arm, is a way for us to collaborate with the institutionalization of the organization and expand its work with collectives and activists who are in favor of educational policies for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. We also believe that our investment will allow Malala Fund Brasil to expand its national presence and visibility, integrating a re-grant structure that we advocate in the country.
